Penn State Hershey Medical Center is proud to offer Band Together, a free strength training program led by trained volunteers in churches and in other community locations. In two 30-minute sessions each week, you can get stronger, feel better, make some new friends and – most of all – have fun doing it.
Through the generous support of donors to the Division of General Internal Medicine at Penn State, we have funds to start groups in 20 churches in 2013. By coupling low costs – around $20 per person per year – with the dramatic benefits of strength training, we have a chance to help all adults defend their independence through strength training.
Participants tell us things like: “it is fun being with others during the time” and “carrying packages and groceries from the store is much easier now”, so we are excited to grow this program to improve the health of the community. If your church may be interested, please email Dr. Sciamanna.
